Elastra Releases Cloud Server (ECS) 2.0, Enterprise Edition.

Nov 20, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Elastra, a provider of application infrastructure automation software, announced the immediate availability of Elastra Cloud Server (ECS) 2.0, Enterprise Edition.

According to Elastra, ECS lets customers compose, orchestrate and manage systems made up of Oracle databases, WebLogic Application Servers and other Enterprise-grade software as well as open-source applications like MySQL, Apache, and Tomcat. ECS integrates with enterprise tools such as Tivoli, OpenView, Patrol, CA Spectrum, Zenoss, and Splunk. ECS can be used on private clouds based on VCenter from VMware or XEN from Citrix as well as the public cloud available from Amazon. Systems created for one environment are portable to another.

"To realize the full value of cloud computing, whether public or private, businesses must do more than move to virtualized hardware," said Lydia Leong, Research Director, Gartner. "They must shift the way that they plan, architect, deliver, and service IT infrastructure. Businesses will require cloud service management tools to maximize the value of these services." Elastra brings a level of automation to IT organizations seeking to leverage the economics of cloud computing while staying true to existing architectural practices and corporate policies.

"We have built a product that fits into an existing data center and addresses some of IT's perennial challenges: let IT get more done with fewer resources, make IT deliver results faster and keep IT in control of sensitive information within the company's data center," said Kirill Sheynkman, President and CEO of Elastra Corp.

The beta program for the Enterprise Edition of Elastra Cloud Server involved customers from a variety of industries including: a large European Telecommunications company, a US Federal Government systems integrator, and a major IT services and outsourcing company. This beta program has now concluded with the general availability of the product.

Elastra offers a free edition of ECS running on Amazon Web Services and an Enterprise Edition for private data centers.

Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
