TeleCommunication Systems enters into rights agreement with Cellit

Jul 10, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- TeleCommunication Systems, a provider of wireless communications technology, has announced that, as part of its Mobile-Originated to HTTP patent portfolio licensing program, it has reached an agreement with Cellit with respect to TCS's US patents by which Cellit can use its current system to provide messaging services to its customers.

TeleCommunication Systems (TCS) has said that the terms of the agreement are confidential. These TCS Mobile-Originated (MO) to HTTP patents enable a wireless user to send a short message to an external application using internet protocols such as HTTP and to receive a return message back.

A representative application of this technology is in the current use of Common Short Codes in text-message based mobile marketing, advertising, entertainment, and commerce.

Text messaging as an interactive medium is facilitated by the use of Common Short Codes' short numeric four to six digit numbers to which a mobile user can send a text message and receive a response, TeleCommunication Systems said.

Drew Morin, chief technology officer of TCS, said: "By making TCS's MO to HTTP patent portfolio available and affordable, we are enabling companies to continue to use Common Short Codes. As a market leader in managing text messages, we are dedicated to finding ways to encourage companies to take advantage of these technologies." http://www.datamonitor.com Republication or redistribution, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without prior written consent. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
