Actel Chips Away at Poor WAN Performance With Silver Peak Systems

(Market Wire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SANTA CLARA, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/23/09 -- Silver Peak Systems, the leader in data center Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization, today announced that Actel, the leader in low-power FPGAs and mixed-signal FPGAs, has selected Silver Peak's NX appliances to assist with the company's data center consolidation and global Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) initiatives. With Silver Peak's real-time network optimization techniques, Actel can migrate servers to a single main data center in California without worrying about virtual application performance in remote locations, such as India. "With Silver Peak's WAN optimization, all of our domestic and international employees receive a consistent virtual application experience, regardless of location," said Dave Sadowsky, IT manager at Actel. "We setup a test bed and benchmarked Silver Peak against some of their competitors and in our tests they performed very well. Silver Peak will allow us to deploy our VDI solution and provide a more than satisfactory user experience back to our home office." Silver Peak leverages a variety of real-time network optimization techniques to maximize application performance across the WAN while minimizing IT operational costs. These techniques include: -- Network Acceleration to overcome WAN latency -- Network Integrity to correct packet loss and WAN quality problems -- Network Memory(TM) to maximize WAN bandwidth utilization Silver Peak's unique network approach to WAN optimization delivers unprecedented performance and scalability. Silver Peak provides the highest capacity appliances on the market, and the only solution that optimizes all IP traffic (independent of software version and transport protocol). This includes file, email, web, SQL, Voice over IP (VoIP), streaming video, Citrix, Virtual Desktop Infrastructures (VDI), real-time data replication, and remote backup.
