RCN Teams up with Boston's New Professional Indoor Lacrosse Team - The Boston Blazers

BOSTON --(Business Wire)--

RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of all digital television, high capacity data and voice services, is now the Official Cable Provider of the Boston Blazers. The Boston Blazers, a professional indoor lacrosse team and member of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), begin their first season of play in January 2009 at the TD Banknorth Garden.

As part of its partnership with the Boston Blazers, RCN will host several lacrosse clinics in communities it serves. RCN will also hold various contests and events in conjunction with the team in addition to a variety of cross-marketing promotions.

The Boston Blazers begin league play with away and home series against division rival the New York Titans. The team opened the NLL season on the road against the Titans on January 10, 2009 before making its historic home debut on January 17 at the TD Banknorth Garden against New York.

The Boston Blazers professional indoor lacrosse franchise was established in May, 2007 when owner Tim Armstrong was awarded an expansion team in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The team will make its debut in January, 2009 and play eight home games at Boston's TD Banknorth Garden as part of a 16-game regular season schedule. The Blazers join the NLL as the league begins the 23rd season of professional indoor lacrosse with 12 teams playing in state-of-the-art arenas throughout the United States and Canada.
