AT&T to Provide Network Services for the State of Georgia

ATLANTA, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. today announced a five-year contract with the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA) worth a projected $346 million to provide managed Wide Area Network (WAN), Voice, and Local Area Network (LAN) services across state government agencies.

The extensive deployment of managed network services will establish a more robust and efficient network for Georgia's government operations, a centralized management model and standardized service levels across the state. The AT&T solution will integrate new communications equipment, delivering more advanced communication capabilities for Georgia state officials and employees. From Internet access to voice calls, state government staff from various agencies will benefit directly from the more efficient and reliable communication capabilities provided by AT&T.

The solution will also enable the state to leverage AT&T's unified network to strategically convert voice services to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), moving Georgia forward to the next generation of converged communications services. Through this fully managed solution, AT&T will provide Georgia with a sustainable network support model that stays current over time.

In addition, the contract provides the state with a disaster recovery solution and information security services so government operations can be maintained in the event of a natural or man-made disaster. The state will also benefit from AT&T's advanced security infrastructure as well as an inventory and asset management system for the state's vital communications equipment.
