i365 , Inc: i365, A Seagate Company, Expands EVault Data Protection Portfolio with New Recovery Products

Nov 12, 2008 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) --
i365 , Inc., A Seagate Company (NASDAQ: STX), today introduced an extension of their portfolio of i365 EVault Data Protection online backup and recovery software, providing businesses with an integrated approach for enhanced onsite up to the minute recovery of mission critical data and systems. Together, EVault Real Time Protection and EVault System Restore software provide an integrated solution that enables customers to meet more aggressive recovery point objectives (RPO) and recovery time objectives (RTO), based on their business requirements.

According to the ESG Research Report, Data Protection Market Trends, January 2008, 58 percent of mid market organisations said they could only tolerate 4 hours or less downtime before experiencing significant revenue loss or other adverse business impact. An additional 31 percent had a tolerance window of between four and twenty four hours.

"Our customers entrust their important data and servers with our on-demand data centre and web hosting services. We cannot afford to lose data," said Justin Scott, technical assurance specialist with SoftLayer. "i365's flexible recovery solutions, such as EVault Real-Time Protection, give us near continuous backups of mission critical systems while providing fast, flexible and comprehensive restores without disrupting our existing EVault Software nightly backup."

EVault Real Time Protection - Available as an extension to the EVault online backup and recovery Software, EVault Real Time Protection provides up to the minute protection of mission critical systems by continuously tracking changes and generating recovery points as frequently as every five minutes - minimising potential data loss on Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server and other high volume servers. Key features include:

Robust volume-level protection of Windows 2003, 2008, and XP
Fast, flexible restoration from a local data store
Ability to restore entire volumes or individual files
EVault System Restore - Available as an extension to EVault online backup and recovery Software and EVault Real Time Protection, EVault System Restore can quickly recover a failed system in the event of a catastrophic hardware failure onto similar or dissimilar hardware, or a virtual machine within minutes. Compared to the traditional system recovery process that can take hours, days or weeks, EVault System Restore integrates directly with EVault backup products, and can recover system, applications and data in a single pass. Key features include:

Painless, guided, one stop recovery of Windows 2003, 2008, Vista and XP servers
Recovery to dissimilar hardware and virtual environments
Dynamic driver loading with ability to customise the recovery media
Small to medium businesses (SMBs), remote or branch offices of enterprises and vertical industries such as healthcare, financial services and legal are especially impacted by downtime as a result of data loss and hardware failure because of the need for industry compliance and regulatory requirements. In addition, since many often have limited or no dedicated IT resources, backup system maintenance may be considered a lower priority to daily operational requirements, leaving them especially vulnerable to system downtime and data loss.

"All data is important, but from an operational efficiency standpoint we know that there is some data that is more mission-critical and requires immediate recovery," said Valerie Fawzi, senior director of product marketing at i365, A Seagate Company. "SMBs are looking for differentiated levels of recovery management solutions with the flexibility to choose between software, SaaS or a managed service. With the expansion of the EVault Data Protection portfolio, customers can meet their recovery objectives with a portfolio of integrated recovery solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies and give them confidence in the event of a disaster."

i365 EVault Data Protection solutions address the complexity of explosive data growth while solving regulatory compliance, disaster recovery, and protection for local and remote offices and mobile devices. Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
