Big Lots Selects GSI Commerce for Full-Service E-Commerce Solutions

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., Oct 21, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
Nation's Largest Broadline Closeout Retailer to Offer Special Deals to Customers Shopping Online
GSI Commerce Inc. (Nasdaq: GSIC), a leading provider of e-commerce and multichannel solutions, today announced it has signed a multiyear, full-service e-commerce agreement with Big Lots (NYSE: BIG). Big Lots is the nation's largest broadline closeout retailer with annual sales over $4.5 billion and more than 1,350 stores nationwide. GSI will provide Big Lots with a full-service, integrated e-commerce solution, including e-commerce technology, customer care and fulfillment.

"We are excited about launching our e-commerce business. It presents an opportunity to expose consumers to closeout shopping and great bargains in a way that is fun and different than what a traditional retailer typically provides," said Rob Claxton, senor vice president of marketing for Big Lots. "We did a thorough evaluation of possible options and concluded GSI Commerce was the best fit for us because of the company's expertise in helping retailers create a unique shopping experience on the Web."

"GSI is proud to add Big Lots as an e-commerce client," said Damon Mintzer, executive vice president of sales for GSI. "We are looking forward to helping them expand their online capabilities and providing an additional array of services to their customers."

The new Web store launched today, in time for the upcoming Holiday shopping season. Traditionally, Big Lots has focused its sales efforts to budget shoppers, discount shoppers and deal hunters. Through its Buzz Club, Big Lots offers members early insight into promotions and available merchandise. The company has been adding new members at a rapid pace and plans to leverage this community for its new Web store and online deal of the day offerings.
