New Quintum Response Point Gateways Win 'Best of Show' Award for Best SMB Solution at the INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) EATONTOWN, NJ, September 24 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Quintum Technologies, an innovator in VoIP
technologies and a subsidiary of Network Equipment Technologies, Inc.
(NYSE: NWK), announced today that their new T1/E1/PRI and 4 port FXS
Response Point Gateways were awarded the Best of Show, Best SMB Solution,
at the INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO (ITEXPO) in Los Angeles last
week.

The ITEXPO Best of Show Award recognizes innovative products and solutions
that were featured in the Exhibit Hall during the event. This designation
serves to highlight the technological achievement and creative product
features that set these winners apart from the rest of the crowd. INTERNET
TELEPHONY magazine editorial staff evaluated the pre-show nominations, and
met with vendors to inspect and review the displayed products on the first
day of the expo.

Under an agreement with Microsoft, Quintum designed analog and digital
gateways that will work with any Response Point-based IP telephony system,
offering small and medium businesses the ability to deploy VoIP throughout
their network with IP PBX telephony advantages. The Quintum analog Response
Point gateway is automatically discovered and configured by the Response
Point application so it is very easy to install with any Response
Point-based phone system. The T1/E1/PRI gateway uses the same auto
discovery and configuration capability along with a simple Response Point
customized configuration wizard to provide a simple step-by-step set-up.

"Quintum has always exceeded the bar of excellence when developing their
products," said TMC President and Conference Chairman, Rich Tehrani. "Now,
with Microsoft and Response Point, they have capitalized on the
functionality that enterprises have enjoyed for years, and designed them
into a gateway that SMBs can easily and cost-effectively use."

"We are thrilled that Quintum's efforts have been recognized," said Xuedong
Huang, general manager of Microsoft Response Point. "They have worked
closely with the Microsoft team to design an easy-to-use interface and
quality product that assures a hassle-free experience for customers using
Response Point systems with the Quintum gateways."

"Today, small businesses, like their larger counterparts, need
sophisticated telephony systems, but are constrained by both financial and
technical resources," said Chuck Rutledge, Vice President of Marketing for
NET/Quintum. "Together, Microsoft Response Point and Quintum have created a
unique gateway solution that is consistent with the Response Point
philosophy of being easy to set up and manage, and inexpensive to own."

Quintum has created a microsite in which all new Response Point information
can be found. The microsite can be found at:

  • Understanding the Voice of the Customer: Today's contact centers involve a sea of information that must be captured, processed, and distributed on a daily basis. Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
