Software AG Makes Best-in-Class SOA Infrastructure Readily Accessible with the webMethods SOA Suite

RESTON, Va. --(Business Wire)-- Software AG, a global leader in business infrastructure software, today formally introduced the webMethods SOA Suite as a proven, best-in-class solution for creating, deploying and managing a service-oriented architecture (SOA) at the enterprise level. Core components of the webMethods SOA Suite include the webMethods ESB for service enablement and orchestration and CentraSite(TM) for SOA governance. By adopting the webMethods SOA Suite, enterprises can reduce the time, cost and effort required to implement and operate their SOA infrastructure. The announcement was made at Software AG's Second Annual SOA Governance Summit, taking place today in Stockholm, Sweden.

"The webMethods SOA Suite combines the performance advantages of best-of-breed technology with the cost and other benefits of an integrated product suite," said Dr. Peter Kurpick, Chief Product Officer and member of the Executive Board, Software AG. "Over the past year, our product offering has grown significantly as a result of the webMethods acquisition and a number of new partnerships. This has given us a SOA infrastructure portfolio that is unmatched in both its performance and the value that it delivers. With enterprise adoption of SOA shifting rapidly to business-critical implementations, we determined that this was the right time to bring to market a more comprehensive solution that fully capitalizes on our industry-leading position."

The webMethods SOA Suite: At-a-Glance

The webMethods SOA Suite encompasses all of the software components required to enable, orchestrate, manage and govern an enterprise-level SOA implementation. It comes preconfigured with full integration spanning the product suite, comprehensive standards support, embedded best practices and predefined service policies. As it addresses the entire SOA lifecycle, the webMethods SOA Suite can be used to ensure consistent and auditable compliance with user-defined Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) and other Quality-of-Service (QoS) metrics. It also boasts the proven scalability and reliability of the webMethods ESB.

Core components of the webMethods SOA Suite include:

-- CentraSite - A comprehensive, standards-based platform for managing and governing the services, processes, policies and business rules associated with service-oriented architecture. CentraSite brings together a fully-integrated registry/repository with advanced policy and metadata management features to deliver extended control and streamlined management of the entire SOA lifecycle.

-- webMethods ESB - A standards-based enterprise service bus (ESB) solution enabling integration and interoperability of applications, services, processes and partners via a single platform. Earlier this year, the webMethods ESB, v.7.1. was recognized as a 'Product of the Year' for Service Assembly and Integration by Tech Target's searchSOA.com.

-- webMethods Mediator - An easy-to-deploy service mediator for policy enforcement and performance monitoring. With full integration to CentraSite, it enables centralized, run-time management of heterogeneous SOA implementations.

-- webMethods Insight - A highly complementary product for the run-time management of heterogeneous SOA environments. webMethods Insight provides enterprises with a proven, best-of-breed solution for the monitoring, SLA enforcement and provisioning of run-time services

Enterprises can also expand their deployment of the webMethods SOA suite by including the Layer 7 SecureSpan SOA Appliance, available directly from Software AG, as part of their deployment. When deployed in conjunction with the webMethods SOA Suite, this widely adopted SOA appliance can be used to simplify the enforcement of advanced security and policy controls at the edge of the network.

As a packaged offering, the webMethods SOA Suite delivers significant benefits:

-- Faster time-to-value - With each component of the product suite pre-configured to deliver optimal performance and full interoperability out-of-the-box, the webMethods SOA Suite can be deployed faster and with less risk.

-- Easier-to-Manage - Full integration of the product suite allows CentraSite to be used as a single system of record for all SOA assets. This simplifies governance and management of the entire SOA lifecycle.

-- Cost-savings - Package pricing for the webMethods SOA Suite represents an appreciable savings over purchasing the components individually. Additional benefits can be realized from faster deployment and streamlined administration.

Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
