Register.com SMB Survey: 70% Expect No Decline In Web Revenue Over Next Year, Despite Economic Conditions

(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Register.com, a provider of web services and domain registration for
small businesses, announced the results of its Small Business Web
Survey examining web strategy trends from among its small business
customers.

The survey was conducted over a three week period, April 28 - May 16.
The findings reveal that despite slumping economic conditions, most
small business customers that participated in the survey do not expect
a decline in revenue over the next year and expect to make additional
investments in website design, search engine optimization (SEO) and
email marketing to expand their business.

Register.com received replies from more than 800 of its small business
customers, 72 percent of which responded that they are an owner or
partner of a small business. Key findings include:

- 55 percent of respondents have registered more than one domain name
for their business - 41 percent saw more than a quarter of their total
revenue from web sales - 20 percent don't know how much revenue they
are getting through their site - Approximately 70 percent of the
respondents don't expect their web revenue to decline despite economic
conditions. (34.6 percent expect more revenue / 34.5 percent expect
about the same revenue) - When asked, "What area of technology are you
most likely to invest in over the next year?" The top there answers
were: website design (53 percent ), SEO (43 percent ), and email
marketing (41 percent ).

"Having a website has become more than a luxury for small businesses
and entrepreneurs, it is a necessity" said Register.com CEO Larry
Kutscher. "Our small business customers know that investing in a great
website is a more effective way to reach potential customers and stay
in contact with existing clients. The response to our survey shows the
result of this investment, as a majority of customers expect no decline
- and many expect growth - in their web revenues over the next year."

To help small business learn more about how to be successful online,
the company said that it recently launched the Register.com Learning
Center (registerlearningcenter.com), an article-based resource that
includes tips, know-how, ideas and training information.

Register.com provides tools a business needs to build and manage their
online presence.

Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
