Energy Efficiency-Are You Paying Too Much for Your Data Network?

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) TORONTO, ONTARIO, May 15 / MARKET WIRE/ --

Cost savings are key to IT decision makers and CIO's world wide. But for many, energy efficiency is too difficult to calculate or measure. To change this, Nortel(1) (TSX: NT)(NYSE: NT) has introduced the Nortel Energy Efficiency Calculator (NEEC) - an IT planning tool that allows decision makers to measure their energy consumption costs and identify the cost saving opportunities of working with Nortel. Using the NEEC, customers can plug in various network deployment scenarios, evaluate trade-offs in network design and most importantly, determine their potential energy cost savings when using Nortel vs. a leading competitor.

Quick Facts - Saving money with Nortel:

- The Nortel Energy Efficiency Calculator and its findings have been third party validated by the Tolly Group (3) in a real world test - and the message is clear: Nortel data network products use significantly less energy than competing Cisco products without sacrificing performance.

- The Tolly Group also tested Nortel data switching products and found that they use up to half of the energy consumption, offer 20 times the performance and are four-to-seven times more resilient than the primary competitor's (3).

- In addition, Info-Tech (2) compared similar products from Cisco and Nortel and determined that Nortel's provide a total cost of ownership that is up to 50 percent lower (4). Check out the reports in the links below.

  • Understanding the Voice of the Customer: Today's contact centers involve a sea of information that must be captured, processed, and distributed on a daily basis. Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
