Infor Expands Participation in IBM Sysem I VIP Program

Infor ERP A+ Designated Solution of Choice for Restaurant and Hospital Supply Distributors

ATLANTA – November 8, 2007—Infor today announced an expansion of its participation in IBM (News - Alert)’s System I Vertical Industry Program (VIP) to cover the restaurant and hospital supply markets for Infor ERP A+, a System i-based solution built specifically for distributors. The VIP program is an IBM initiative to advance the use of technology among small and medium sized companies in select industries. The designation builds on Infor’s growing alliance with IBM and comes just three months after A+ was selected for the VIP program in the janitorial/sanitation (Jan/San) supply industry.

Infor and IBM are experiencing strong interest from distributors through the VIP Program. The latest joint customer to benefit from the VIP initiative is Dixie Paper, a wholesale paper, chemical and sanitary maintenance distributor serving Northern Louisiana and East Texas. A+ will manage several of Dixie Paper’s business processes including sales, mobile order entry, purchasing, accounting, inventory/warehouse management, and e-commerce. The combined Infor and IBM solution enables Dixie Paper to recognize operational efficiencies across its enterprise and to bring new value-added services to its customers.

“By leveraging our IBM System I infrastructure with A+ we can quickly bring new services to our customers and realize many of our strategic growth initiatives,” said Andy Horn, president of Dixie Paper. “The Jan/San-specific capabilities of A+ combined with Infor’s deep distribution domain expertise made it the clear choice.”

The IBM VIP program concentrates on building a strong community of solution providers, resellers and integrators focused on solving very specific customer needs through co-marketing activity, sales support and stronger connections among partners. Customers benefit from solutions optimized to integrate with the System I platform for faster, easier implementations.

“The expansion of Infor ERP A+ in the IBM VIP program showcases the advantage of the solution’s business-specific capabilities,” said Andrew McGlasson, director of industry and product marketing for Infor’s Distribution and Supply Chain Group. “The program provides the combination of solutions and support that enterprising distributors need to cost-effectively meet the requirements of their customers.”

Other Infor solutions in the VIP Program include Infor ERP Xpert for Automotive and Infor HCM Infinium for Hospitality and Gaming.

“The value of Infor’s specialized solutions, combined with the integration of IBM System I, offers small and mid-sized companies a simple, complete and economical IT platform,” said Peter Small, director worldwide IBM System I business partner and ISV sales. “Together, we recognize that smaller companies face the same challenges as their larger counterparts and want access to the same robust technology. The combined IBM, Infor offering levels the playing field for these customers, helping them gain a secure foothold in today’s changing business environment.”

Infor ERP A+ is a feature-rich solution built on the System I platform and integrated with Microsoft (News - Alert) Office. Its rich functionality and automation of core business processes provide a foundation that improves business performance and profitability, while maintaining service levels and increased customer value. A+ manages core processes, from order entry and management, to sales analysis and accounts receivable, to inventory control and purchasing.

  • Understanding the Voice of the Customer: Today's contact centers involve a sea of information that must be captured, processed, and distributed on a daily basis. Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
