Acer Unveils New Feature-Rich Aspire 5920 Notebook PC

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Acer, the third largest PC vendor worldwide (source Gartner data, 1Q 2007) today announced the Aspire 5920, a new multimedia notebook series that combines the groundbreaking Acer Gemstone design with the latest Intel Centrino technology.

Acer has packaged the new Aspire range with a brand new Industrial Design theme: the Gemstone concept. The Gemstone design symbolizes the universal value of natural beauty, capturing and expressing it with Acer's inimitable style. The new Aspire range brings the highest quality, cutting-edge hardware and spectacular design in a state-of-the-art multimedia notebook.

The Aspire 5920 features Centrino 2 Duo processors and is based on the new Intel Centrino mobile technology, codenamed Santa Rosa. Built around the Core 2 Duo processor, the fourth-generation Centrino platform comes with a new and complete set of features designed to take overall system performance to unprecedented levels, without compromising battery life.

To further increase performance, the Aspire 5920 offers Intel Robson technology on selected models. Robson is the code name for a new Intel platform technology, called TurboMemory, which uses non-volatile memory (Flash memory) to increase system responsiveness. It enables the majority of application workloads to be written and read from a system cache instead of the HDD. Robson technology also offers increased power savings.

Multimedia Highs

Combining Acer's exclusive Empowering Technology together with the Acer Arcade entertainment suite, the Aspire 5920 offers a solution for all your entertainment demands. Open the notebook to find the brilliance of the 15.4" wide display with Acer CrystalBrite, a technology that ensures maximum screen brightness in all lightning conditions. This 8ms response time display is managed by the powerful NVidia GeForce 8600M-GT graphics card with 256MB of dedicated VRAM, up to 2048MB TurboCache and Microsoft DirectX 10 support.

The Acer Aspire 5920 is a highly-versatile notebook that delivers an extraordinary audio-visual experience. With Dolby Home Theater Virtual Surround Sound speakers, a high-definition audio-video port (HDMI(1)), an HD-DVD drive(2), and an optional TV Tuner (DVB-T), the Aspire 5920 is the perfect multimedia-companion for the high-definition content era.

All multimedia functions can be controlled via the six, touch-sensitive Media keys positioned to the right of the keyboard that offer convenient, one-button control over all your multimedia entertainment and instant access to the Aspire Arcade multimedia suite.

Understanding intensive multimedia users are also dedicated digital file collectors, the Aspire 5920 is equipped with a generous Hard Disk Drive of up to 200GB(3). For the optical drive, users can choose between the excellent DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive and an HD-DVD drive(4). In addition, for easy and speedy data transfer, the Aspire 5920 sports a comfortable 5-in-1 card reader that supports the most common memory card formats.

The Aspire 5920 can be specified with up to 4GB of dual-channel memory for non-stop multimedia power.

Videoconference

On selected models, the Aspire 5920 features the versatile Acer Bluetooth ExpressCard VoIP phone that automatically recharges itself directly from the ExpressCard slot. This handy device can also be used as a normal phone connected to the Notebook through Bluetooth connections. Used in combination with the integrated Acer CrystalEye camera, the VoIP phone guarantees real-time videoconferencing and effortless broadcasting.

To stay connected everywhere, the Aspire 5920 comes complete with full wired and wireless connectivity options: WLAN with Intel PRO/Wireless 4965AGN IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n that delivers wireless speeds of up to 5 times faster than the current ABG standard, WPAN with built-in Bluetooth 2.0 module(5), and LAN connection with Gigabit Ethernet cards.

All notebook functions can be efficiently managed with Acer's Empowering technology, an intuitive interface that gives users easy control over their notebook's security, performance, settings and communication with a single touch of the Empowering Key.

The Aspire 5920 series comes with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate preinstalled. Additional installed software includes Acer GridVista, Acer Arcade, Adobe Reader, Norton Internet Security and CyberLink Power Producer, Acer GridVista and Acer Arcade Software Suite.

All Acer notebooks come with a standard one-year parts and labor warranty, which includes concurrent International Traveler's Coverage that can be extended to three years with the Acer Advantage service that also covers accidental damage to the notebook. Additionally, all Acer notebooks are backed by toll-free service and support.
