Out with the Cold and in with the new. Ship2Save deploys second RFID solution for Atlas Cold Storage Inc.

May 29th 2006,
Montreal, Quebec.

As part of Atlas Cold Storage’s RFID expansion initiative, Ship2Save has deployed yet another Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system for the cold storage third party logistic provider (3PL).

“With this new RFID installment, we continue to expand our RFID services offering. An offering that allows our clients to meet mass-merchandiser RFID compliance seamlessly.
The [Ship2Save] RFID system has provided us with a reliable and cost effective solution. A solution that fits in with our goal of optimizing our clients' supply chains through value-added systems and services.” says Darryl Peacock, Senior Manager of IT for Atlas Cold Storage.

The system allows Atlas to offer value-added RFID services to clients that are progressively being required to meet RFID mandates of mass-merchandiser behemoths like Wal-Mart. “This project allowed us to extrapolate many of the best practices we discovered through our initial deployment at Sikeston [Missouri], and build yet another solid RFID infrastructure for Atlas [Cold Storage] here in Appleton, Wisconsin.” says Arsalan Ahmed, Director of RFID Development at Ship2Save.

The 2nd deployment site is phasing in a superior Gen2 tag standard that has facilitated Atlas Cold Storage to have a more flexible operational process with the RFID tagging. Arsalan adds: “The Gen2 tags that Atlas [Cold Storage] is phasing in, provide a superior read range and reliability for the floor workers at Appleton. This has to do with a improved hardware design of the Gen2 inlays as well as a much enhanced air interface protocol.”

As it stands, Ship2Save has deployed its RFID solution at 2 of Atlas Cold Storage’s 55 facilities. This solution can easily and rapidly deployed at the other Atlas facilities The Company strongly believes that this number will grow as more and more food and beverage manufacturers begin to adopt RFID as part of their supply chain.

  • Understanding the Voice of the Customer: Today's contact centers involve a sea of information that must be captured, processed, and distributed on a daily basis. Effective use of this information enables companies to remain competitive in an increasingly aggressive and customer centric marketplace. An overwhelming percentage of the information that circulates in a contact center's audio recordings, documents, web pages, and emails is unstructured in that it resides outside of a normal structured database and cannot be managed efficiently. These unstructured items contain valuable information, yet this information historically has been difficult to organize, categorize, and access.
